Screening for Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Innovative Vocational Education and Technology (JIVET) maintains a rigorous commitment to academic integrity and the publication of original work. All manuscripts submitted to JIVET undergo thorough plagiarism screening before entering the peer review process. This policy ensures the integrity of our published content and upholds the highest standards of academic publishing.

Plagiarism Screening Process

  1. Initial Submission Check: All manuscripts submitted to JIVET are initially screened using Turnitin and iThenticate plagiarism detection software.
  2. Acceptable Similarity Index: Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% will be immediately returned to authors for revision before consideration for peer review.
  3. Content Analysis: Beyond automated checking, our editorial team conducts a qualitative assessment of potential textual similarities, examining patterns, sources, and the nature of matching content.
  4. Self-Plagiarism Monitoring: Authors must properly cite their previously published work. Excessive reuse of authors' own previously published text (self-plagiarism) is subject to the same scrutiny as other forms of plagiarism.

Consequences of Plagiarism

  1. Minor Textual Overlap: For manuscripts with minor textual overlap (similarity index 15-20%), authors will be required to revise and properly cite sources before proceeding to peer review.
  2. Substantial Plagiarism: Manuscripts with substantial plagiarism (similarity index above 20%) will be rejected immediately. Authors may be permitted to resubmit a completely revised manuscript.
  3. Severe Violations: In cases of severe plagiarism, the manuscript will be rejected, and the authors may be prohibited from submitting to JIVET for a period of two years.
  4. Post-Publication Detection: If plagiarism is detected after publication, JIVET reserves the right to publish a correction, retraction, or expression of concern, and to inform the authors' institutions.

By submitting to JIVET, authors confirm that their work is original, properly attributed, and has not been published elsewhere unless clearly indicated. Authors are encouraged to carefully review their manuscripts for proper citation and acknowledgment of sources before submission.

JIVET is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all necessary measures to prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred.
