Peer Review Process

The Journal of Innovative Vocational Education and Technology (JIVET) employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the highest standards of scholarly publication. This comprehensive evaluation system is designed to assess the quality, originality, and significance of all submitted manuscripts.

Review Workflow

1. Initial Screening

  • Upon submission, all manuscripts undergo preliminary screening by the Editorial Team for:
    • Adherence to submission guidelines and formatting requirements
    • Relevance to JIVET's scope and focus areas
    • Language quality and academic writing standards
    • Plagiarism detection using Turnitin and iThenticate software

2. Editor Assignment

  • Manuscripts that pass initial screening are assigned to a Section Editor with expertise in the relevant subject area.
  • The Section Editor conducts a thorough assessment to determine if the manuscript merits external peer review.

3. Reviewer Selection

  • For manuscripts proceeding to review, at least two expert reviewers are selected based on:
    • Expertise in the specific subject matter
    • Publication history in related fields
    • Absence of conflicts of interest with the authors
  • JIVET maintains a diverse pool of national and international reviewers across vocational education specialties.

4. Double-Blind Review

  • All identifying information about authors and reviewers is removed to ensure impartiality.
  • Reviewers evaluate manuscripts according to standardized criteria:
    • Originality and contribution to the field
    • Methodological rigor and validity
    • Clarity of presentation and argument
    • Relevance to vocational education theory or practice
    • Quality of references and acknowledgment of prior work

5. Review Timeline

  • Reviewers are requested to complete their evaluations within 3 weeks of accepting the review invitation.
  • Authors can expect an initial decision within 6-8 weeks of submission.

6. Decision Making

  • Based on reviewer recommendations, the Section Editor recommends one of the following decisions:
    • Accept without revisions
    • Accept with minor revisions
    • Major revisions required
    • Reject with recommendation to resubmit
    • Reject
  • The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on the reviewers' comments and the Section Editor's recommendation.

7. Revision Process

  • Authors of manuscripts requiring revision have 30 days (minor revisions) or 60 days (major revisions) to submit their revised manuscript.
  • Authors must provide a detailed response to each reviewer comment, explaining how they addressed the concerns or why they chose not to.
  • Revised manuscripts may undergo additional review rounds if necessary.

8. Final Decision

  • After satisfactory completion of all required revisions, the Editor-in-Chief makes a final decision for publication.
  • Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production stage for copyediting, formatting, and publication.
